Program Supervisor

 Compensation: $68,640 - $75,000 DOE
Status: Full Time; Exempt
Reports to: Associate Director of Guardian Scholars

                                              POSITION SUMMARY 

The Program Supervisor is responsible for the implementation and case management of the Youth2Youth component of the Guardian Scholars program. The Program Supervisor will ensure program/contract requirements are met, Youth2Youth are trained and supported, and referrals into Guardian Scholars is consistent. Approximately 75 foster youth turn 18 each year and it is Promises2Kids’ goal to reach all 75 prior to high school graduation to create a path tocareer, vocational training, or college. The Program Supervisor will interact regularly with the Director of Programs, Director of Philanthropy, Chief Program Officer, and the Chief Operating Officer in performing the position’s principal duties – including those that utilize students to support efforts. 


                                        DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Supervise a team of 13-15 Youth2Youth supporting foster youth pursing vocational or trade school, a career, or Extended Foster Care (EFC).
  • Lead robust Youth2Youth program oversight that includes regular training, program outcomes, strategic outreach, expansion, and budget management. 
  • Manage Youth2Youth onboarding including but not limited to shadowing, training in areas such as Trauma Informed Care, Mandated Reporting, Suicide Prevention, Deescalation. 
  • Support the implementation and growth of the Alumni Program, including networking events, advocacy and leadership opportunities, and community resourcing for former Guardian Scholars. 
  • Oversee and support the transition of participants from the Guardian Scholars program to the Alumni Program, ensuring continuity of engagement and community connection. 
  • Manage the County of San Diego contract to include monthly reporting, invoicing, and budget management. 
  • Work closely with the Guardian Scholars department and the community to match Youth2Youth with foster care community needs including but not limited to San Pasqual Academy, Children’s Legal Services, Child Welfare Services, Foster Parent Associations, San Diego County Office of Education. 
  • Periodically manage a caseload of approximately 10-20 high need students and when needed to maintain consistency and program support.
  • Periodically meet in person with students (or on phone with those out of town) to discuss any challenges, successes and any support needs. 
  • Monitor the Youth2Youth case loads to assess foster youth needs, provide support/direction and maintain outreach/participation.
  • Ensure assessment and goal setting tools is utilized daily with youth participants.
  • Manage the usage and oversight of the evaluation and assessment tools to ensure programmatic data and outcomes can be collected and analyzed for outcome management. 
  • Maintain youth database with accurate files, notes, and documentation.
  • Coordinate and support Guardian Scholars events, activities, trainings and workshops, including regular evening and weekend events.
  • As part of the team, assist in grant writing and fundraising activities as it pertains to Guardian Scholars.
  • Support youth development program components including but not limited to Women’s and Men’s Leadership Network, Speaker’s Bureau, care packages, mentorship, internships, Education Summit, and student training and events.
  • Perform community outreach to increase awareness of the program to community agencies, County and other potential partners, including professional presentations and conferences and other venues. 
  • Recruit students to ensure agency participation goals are met.
    Provide support to volunteer mentors to ensure their effectiveness with youth and satisfaction with the program.
  • Provide support to other Program Supervisors as needed to ensure program consistency and effective service delivery.
  • Collect data and prepare monthly program status reports.
  • Maintain knowledge of current laws, regulations, and resources pertaining to educating foster youth and make referrals. 
  • Complete literary and other research to report on best practices, programming, and collaboration. 
  • Represent Promises2Kids in a professional and friendly manner at all times.
  • Plan, coordinate, and attend occasional events to engage and build connections with youth.
  • This position is requires regular evening and weekend hours to meet participant needs. 
  • Additional duties as assigned. 


                                              QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Lived experience in the foster care system preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in supervisory role.
  • Experience working with foster youth required.
  • Interest in education and welfare of foster youth.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including entire MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrate professional writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a variety of people and represent Promises2Kids in a positive and professional manner to all staff, visitors, donors, and the community. 
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and to complete and report on assignments. 
  • Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work as part of a close-knit team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and also remain oriented to the “big picture” and established goals. 
  • Excellent organizational, management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the child abuse clearance, fingerprinting, and background check.
  • Must possess reliable personal transportation, current driver’s license in good standing, car registration, and auto insurance. 

     

                                               Physical Requirements 

  • This position primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. 
  • Frequently requires sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • May occasionally require lifting and carrying materials (up to 50 lbs) for events, programs, or office needs. 
  • May occasionally involve setup and breakdown of equipment in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • May frequently require walking long distances, standing for extended periods, and working on uneven surfaces or in varying weather conditions. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Visual and auditory acuity are required to perform essential job functions including reading printed and digital materials and interacting with others.
  • The employee may be required to move throughout the office to access equipment, files, and interact with team members.
  • May frequently be required to operate a motor vehicle safely for extended periods and must be able to sit for prolonged periods while driving.
  • Visual and auditory abilities are necessary to ensure safe operation of vehicles and awareness of road conditions.
