TITLE: Foster Futures Coordinator
STATUS: Full-time; Non-Exempt
SALARY: $27 - $35/hour DOE
LOCATION: Fieldwork
REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor
Under the direction of the Program Supervisor, the Foster Futures Program Coordinator will be responsible for a caseload of approximately 25- 35 high need former foster youth. The role involves providing whole-person and comprehensive case management services, including monitoring program participation and requirements, offering referrals to community partners, assisting with budget creation, supporting educational achievement, ensuring basic needs are met, and maintaining regular contact. Through these efforts, the program delivers holistic support to prevent homelessness and foster career development among the youth. Additionally, this position will support the Foster Futures team in program specific administrative tasks such as check requests, database maintenance, and event planning.
The Foster Futures Program focuses on preventing homelessness among former foster youth by providing financial support, mentorship, case management, career coaching, mental health resources, and other essential services. This program equips participants with the tools needed to achieve independence, navigate career pathways, and establish a sustainable support network.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, support a caseload of approximately 25-35 high need youths requiring daily driving to meet youths where they are in the community.
- Conduct two monthly in-person meetings with participants to address challenges, track progress, and provide support, supplemented by additional check-ins via phone, text, or email as needed.
- Collaborate with the Housing and Career Navigator to secure stable housing and connect participants to career development opportunities such as training programs, internships, and job placements.
- Work closely with the Housing and Career Navigator and other team members.
- Implement evaluation and assessment tools to ensure programmatic data and outcomes can be collected and analyzed for outcome management.
- Plan and lead youth training and workshops, as needed.
- Ensure Salesforce is up to date with accurate files, notes, and documentation. Salesforce must be updated daily per phone calls, emails, and visits.
- Maintain regular contact with youth, including two in-person meetings per month, with additional virtual check-ins, phone calls, emails, or text messages as needed.
- Address youth issues as they arise, including providing support, fostering mentor relationships, ensuring basic needs and housing stability, and overcoming barriers to career navigation and homelessness prevention.
- Collaborate with the team to support youth development program components, including but not limited to college and career tours, the Women’s and Men’s Leadership Network, Advocates for Change, care packages, mentoring, internships, resource fairs, and youth training and events.
- Assist in grant writing and fundraising activities as it pertains to program efforts.
- Maintain knowledge of current laws, regulations, and resources pertaining to educating foster youth and make referrals.
- Assist with youth recruitment to ensure agency participation goals are met.
- Provide support to volunteer mentors to ensure their effectiveness with youth and satisfaction with the program.
- Always represent Promises2Kids in a professional and friendly manner and develop a full understanding of Promises2Kids’ mission and role in the community.
- Plan, coordinate, and attend occasional events to engage and build connections with youth.
- This position requires regular evening and weekend hours to meet participant needs.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Lived experience in the foster care system preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related field preferred.
- 2-4 years' experience in program management and experience working with at-risk populations.
- Proficient in public speaking and giving presentations.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including entire MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrate professional writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a variety of people and represent Promises2Kids in a positive and professional manner to all staff, visitors, donors, and the community.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and to complete and report on assignments.
- Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Able to work as part of a close-knit team.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, diplomacy and tact.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and also remain oriented to the “big picture” and established goals.
- Excellent organizational, management, and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess reliable personal transportation, current driver’s license in good standing, car registration, and auto insurance.
- Must be able to successfully pass the child abuse clearance, fingerprinting, and background check.
Physical Requirements
- This position primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
- Frequently requires sitting or standing for extended periods.
- May occasionally require lifting and carrying materials (up to 50 lbs) for events, programs, or office needs.
- May occasionally involve setup and breakdown of equipment in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- May frequently require walking long distances, standing for extended periods, and working on uneven surfaces or in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Visual and auditory acuity are required to perform essential job functions including reading printed and digital materials and interacting with others.
- The employee may be required to move throughout the office to access equipment, files, and interact with team members.
- May frequently be required to operate a motor vehicle safely for extended periods and must be able to sit for prolonged periods while driving.
- Visual and auditory abilities are necessary to ensure safe operation of vehicles and awareness of road conditions.
